Model A Only
Only Model A projects are included on Raft Foundation’s insurances. Model C projects must procure their own insurance coverage.
Background: insurance for projects
Raft Foundation is insured through the Nonprofits Insurance Alliance, a nonprofit insurer that understands fiscal sponsorship. Whenever a Model A project joins Raft, the Raft core team asks NIA to add them to Raft’s General Liability insurance.
Raft also maintains Directors & Officers, Employment Practices, Media, and Cyber Liability insurances.
Costs
Projects are required to cover the costs of being added to Raft’s General Liability insurance. The cost can vary, but is generally at or below $150. (We have also said $300 or less to be extremely conservative with our promises!)
When projects employ people, they are responsible for the associated increase in Directors & Officers and Employment Practices liability insurances.
Insurance certificates and additional insureds
If someone requests a certificate of insurance (COI) or wishes to be added as an additional insured, just reach out!
For the latter, we will also need the additional insured’s name, email, and address.
Incidents
All Raft project leads, project committee members, employees, volunteers, and other project members must swiftly report any and all incidents that may result in an insurance claim. (Do this via email.)
