Here is how you leave your current fiscal host on Open Collective and then join Raft.
NOTE: this is only about transferring things in the Open Collective website. Transitioning fiscal sponsors also involves one or two contracts and plenty of conversation.
- Submits expenses to your Collective and any Projects as the Collectives/Projects themselves, for their full balances, in order to get the balances to $0, with the title “Transfer to new fiscal host” (with “other” as the payment method, or the fiscal host can pay via Wise if they use it)
- Collective approves them. Previous fiscal host coordinates with Raft to transfer funds.
- Now that the balance for the Collective is $0, you can change hosts in your Collective’s settings. It will prompt you to pause your recurring contributions. Unfortunately, this is unavoidable.
- Use the settings page or go to https://opencollective.com/raft/apply to submit to join Raft.
- We will then approve you on our end in Open Collective.
- On your dashboard, there should be a button to restart recurring contributions. You may need to go to Contributions > Paused This will send an email to contributors asking them to click a link that continues their donation.
- We highly recommend that you follow up with donors via other communication channels to ensure that they continue to support you.
